    Some of you may be familiar with Jeff Scherb from JeepForum or CJ8.com
    He's an excellent designer, and his hobby is making Jeep mods from fiberglass. He has done some superb work over the lat few years, including a Retro-Wrangler pick-up, a "new" Gaucho, and an Overlander cab. Here's a link; take some time to check these out if you are not familiar with his work:

    His latest project is development of a bolt-on kit to retrofit a CJ grille to a TJ.

    I love this concept (as with all of his concepts) and thought this would be interesting to some of us "quitters"... :D

    I love his work, amazing the high quality work this guy does. Now if I had a new jeep that is something I would want to do to it.

    This guy is amazing his work is some of the best I've seen. If I owned a TJ would definitely want to do the grille conversion.

    pretty cool, but I have a feeling that a production version of his kit would be wildly expensive. Especially for what is a completely cosmetic upgrade.

    I can think of other purely cosmetic upgrades that are expensive... and many guys don't mind paying for those as long as they get to enjoy them...

    I recently painted the grill of my TJ with bedliner, and noticed it looked more like an MB without the headlight trim. The lights are already set into the grill, and it would be easy to add a ring of metal around the light to finish it off. Here's a pic without the trim. I do love Jeffs work, but don't think I could afford it!

    I love the top he delevoped for the LJ. I wish it would go to market. I would have to find a way to get one.

    I really like his projects. I think this is a project that he would have a hard time trying to sell since Jeep's lawyers fiercely defend the copyright to anything that resembles a 7 slat grill.

    Clint, I don't see a problem. He's making aftermarket fenders/hood/cowl pieces, to integrate a factory CJ grille.
    The fenders/hood/cowl aren't copyrighted like the grille.
    Should be safe from legal copyright issues.

    I just found this thread... thanks for all the nice comments guys, I really appreciate it.

    I've designed radiator mounts so the Wrangler radiator and A/C condenser mount in the CJ grille shell very easily. I've also designed the inner fenders so that they clear the TJ's coolant overflow bottle and A/C condenser hard lines, and so that all of the "fender top" accessories like the power center and the washer reservoir will bolt up in their stock locations. Basically nothing under the hood needs to be modified.

    I've got price quotes from a fiberglass manufacturing company, and based on those quotes, these parts could be brought to market at prices very competitive with fiberglass "factory replacement" parts that are already on the market. I don't know if you consider that expensive or not, but they wouldn't have to be any more expensive than parts already out there. Now all that's needed is a company that wants to bring these to market, I just design and build this stuff, I don't sell it :).

    Jeff, I think that if this came to market, I'd be forced to buy it! I like our TJ, but it doesn't have nearly the same soul as the CJ!
