Steve, if you want a fake gun you might want to go the whole nine yards and get the blow up girls to go with it....oh, wait! I forgot you already have those.

The 30 cal (7.62x51mm) is 2.810" long and 50 cal (.50 bmg) is 5.450" long. For fake ammo search for dummy belted ammo.

A couple of years ago, I built an M2HB for my 1942 MB. It was a ton of fun to make. Angle Grinder & MIG welder is really all that is needed. Instead of using rivets, I center punched the rivet location and MIG-ed up a little bead on that mark. After a lite sanding - flap wheel on grinder) they look just like rivets. The barrel is hard to duplicate. The plans came from the G503 board and should still be there http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86813. I really built 2 of them. I sold the first one to a re-enactor and used that $$ to buy more "real" parts for 2nd gun (right side charging plate is very difficult to replicate and have it look real). I bought a resin barrel - copper pipe inside resin mold. The gun still weighs over 40 lbs. I also built a dummy 1928-A4.

Go for it and have fun!

    heres where Im at
so far bolt slides ,that was easy
my first idea for the motor bolted inside to the front of the box wont really work ......now moved on to a full lenght shaft with bearings on both ends and spun by a offset motor either gear, chain or belt drive
I think I will have to farm out the spinning barrel assembly to someone.......I want it out of alum for weight .my concrete skillz are usless here ......
