As long as you don't tell my wife.......I had windshield hinges, hood hinges, radiater support rods, hood prop, and mirror arms and nuts and bolts for $300.00.

Beautiful jeep. Nice work. My '79 a similar but I think slightly darker color and has really grown on me as a good jeep color.

Very nice... You must live in the better part of Stockton... Are you a K9 by chance?

Jon, I live in north Stockton,I've lived here my entire life, (48 years). Stockton is no different then any other city I've been to, good and bad parts of town. Yes I am a k-9.

The last color the jeep was painted was a burgany from a 80's dodge van. I wanted something similar, but when I saw this red on a 2013 corvette I knew it was the color I wanted.

Just a little update: I have put on over 600 miles on in the last 2 months. I think I have found and fixed most of the bugs/mistakes. My biggest was an dead short under the dash that took out part of my wiring harness! Check your fuzes! I have run the Jeep down highway at 75 mph (2600 rpm) with no problems. I still have a few small things to finish up.
DID I SAY I HATE DOING THINGS TWICE!

WOW! it has been a year since I last posted.
As i said above "I HATE DOING THINGS TWICE"!
First I have put a little over 6,000 miles on the jeep in the last year.
I put the first scratch on it, (soon to be fixed), it drives me nuts!
For the most part I have worked out most of the bugs.
I do have two major things that need fixing:
    1. I need to cut the power steering bracket off the frame and move it forward 2".
When I set the new yj springs to the frame I moved the axle forward 2", and I had left the power steering where it was.
When the suspension flexes the tire rod and drag link collide and caused it to bend.
I bought a new bracket to move it forward.

    2. I need to replace the motor!
My oil pickup tube broke off and fell to bottom of pan and starved the motor for oil, causing bearing failure.
I have enlisted the help of another member here on this site to help me out with a new motor.

I know how you are about pictures so I will try to post some up in the near future.

I've been busy with work, so this is taking longer then I want it to.
First I removed the old motor to make room to work on the steering:

Here it is out of the JEEP:

This was the position that was causing the problems. As you can see its way to far back:

This is where the two hit:

Frame rail all cleaned up after about an hours work and 15 cut off wheels:

This is what was left of old bracket:

I'm glad I over killed the front frame horns with 3/8 inch thick plate when i plated the frame.

Not bad for 8 hours worth of work in 100degree weather and no sleep. Now back to working 18 hour days, it will be another week before I get the chance to work on this again so I can finish it up.

Looks like where you put the steering gear is a better placement. I bet that engine will serve you well. Like I said, beautiful JEEP!
