    Slow but steady progress.

I made a bracket that bolts to the grill and the tube will be welded to it.

After a lot of grinding...Wish I was a better welder!

Minimal body putty & sanding the first coat of paint. I'll apply a 2nd coat and call it good and move on to the driver's side.

Thanks, it's not bad for my first attempt and it sure beats buying a $200 kit. I'm fond of the flat fender look since previously owning a '42.

    Finished the fenders.

The driver's side didn't turn out as nice as the passenger. It was crinkled when I started...I tried to straighten it out the best I could. Looks good from here tho!

Bought a hitch lock and slipped a nut over the shaft...Welded it and cut it off.

Perfect fit...This should keep the honest thief from using my tow bar to haul off my Jeep.

Received my new aluminum radiator the other day. I was dumb and didn't get one with mounting tabs or drain valve. :banghead:

Speedway Chevy SBC/BBC Universal Aluminum Radiators
    [IMG]

Had to fab a lower bracket for the radiator to sit in.

Proud of this weld...The rest are crusty but I didn't have to break out the grinder for once.

Upper bracket pieces ready for welding.

    Painted and mounted.

Almost ready...Have to track down a lower hose tomorrow. The lower flex hose I bought today was too long.

Looks great. I had to do something similar. Make sure you put some rubber or something to keep the steel from rubbing a hole in your tank. My bottom hose just wasn't going to fit, so i had to improvise. I cut it in half and then used a piece of stainless handicap bar to make the section i need. Ghetto, looks trick, free and now funny too. That radiator will cool your engine a lot better than a brass/copper one.

I cut some rubber off the old hose and placed between the bracket and radiator, hard to tell but it's there.

Looks good. Do you have plans for a fan shroud?

I don't have a better pic of what was there other than this. You can see there were just two metal side pieces acting as a shroud. Do you have any suggestions for something better? Maybe a visit to the wrecking yard and search for a molded plastic type?

I don't have shroud either and its pretty sketchy. I am actually thinking about running an electric fan and getting rid of the steel one. "Thinking".
