Made those on the lathe, they started out as a couple of pieces of brass bar, they're screwed to the outlet ports with banjo bolts.
The pipe connections are catalog pieces- 3/16" inverse flare to 1/8" NPT adapters.

Wiring is a Walck's replacement harness, it's not perfect but I'd use one again without even stopping to think about it.

Love the reservoir! Where did it come from?

Yeah, that's one of those ideas that, while it turned out OK in the end, probably wasn't worth all the mental or physical effort. If I sat down & counted up all the time I have into that thing I'd probably get myself committed. :(

That started out as the butt ends off of two propane cylinders & a chunk of exhaust pipe for the neck. Inside there's a 2" copper pipe cap acting as a cup plumbed into one of the outputs so a leak in one circuit won't drain the whole thing.

I still don't know whether or not I'm happy with it.

Awesome job on the plumbing. Not to mention all the rest. :)

At 7:05 PM ADT this evening Tonka ran for the first time since July 7 2003.

You may recall I had some issues last year getting oil pressure while cranking, I'm pleased to report 60 PSi at idle. There a few issues that need to be addressed- the valve timing may be off & the water pump is definitely going to need replacing...

    ...but he's alive again.

Nice and beautiful; it looks like swiss quality : when I was in Switzerland for work, near St Gall, the house of a partner had all pipes in stainless steel! In france we use copper pipes for water.

About your white painting, what quality is it and how do you paint it, it is not by hand with a brush, it seems very thick painting.

That's Dupont Nason single stage (no clear coat) polyurethane applied with a cheap spray gun. Yes, it goes on thick & it's not fun to work with- it's very sensitive to temperature- a few degrees too cold & it causes "orange peel" (lumpy surface texture), a few degrees too warm & it runs (drips). I actually had to paint the darn thing three times before I got something approaching adequate. :( It may be OK to use if you're in a climate controlled paint booth using good equipment & work with it a lot to get used to it's characteristics but for a one time use outside I can't recommend it.

    Thanks for asking :)

Almost there, the "To Do" list is getting remarkably short. I've been chasing down a few annoying issues like a coolant leak that wouldn't go away & finishing up the last details like mirrors etc.

Actually last weekend I was chasing a tickie noise at idle- had lots of fun running the engine without the valve covers on . Really interesting to see the valve train going- the push rods going up & down & the lifters spinning around each time the bump stick bumped them :lurk:. Of course I could only see them for a few minutes before the smoke from the oil splashing on the exhaust manifold kinda obscured everything :D

Found one exhaust valve @~ 17 1/2 thou rather than 16- doesn't seem like much but after adjusting it everything sounds nice & even

Last major job is to finish re-upholstering the seats, once they're in I can have Tonk appraised, get insurance & obtain the plate stickies to go on the road :)

After that it's just driving him until the first thing I did wrong shows up
