shift decal 59 cj5

Can anyone help me with measurements of where on the dash to place my new shift decal? I forgot to measure before I sanded for paint on my 59 cj5 with t90 speed and dana 18 twin stick

 

More or less centered vertically above the steering column, and horizontally aligned midpoint between the choke and throttle.

I can go measure my '57 later today to check precisely

 

I am thinking about mounting my decal on a piece of thin magnet material so as not to damage the paint on the dash.

 

As others have said, I think I have seen them mounted in several places. What is correct for a 1959, I don't know if there a correct answer.

 

Mine came crooked from the factory.

That's exactly what I did. Couldn't bring myself to put decals directly on the paint.

 

Mine is original...crooked...and above the steering tube.
