Was curious if you could put a dana 44 in front and rear of an early cj? in the future if and when my dana 27 wears out/break. doing an outboard leaf spring with coil overs and using a full length d44. I've heard of d60 in rear with d44 in fronts as well as d44 in rear with d30 in front. but was wondering about d44 all round.

If you're planning on redoing the suspension completely and using full width axles, there really isn't any combo you can't do. I'm currently doing Dana 44s all around with a narrowed FSJ front dana 44 and a 1st gen Isuzu rear dana 44.

Mine are custom made D44's. I outboarded the spring hangers, The guy I bought them from had them set up SOA on a YJ frame.

Like one said, waggy axle with quadra trac will have the rear axle off-set like the one you have.

But the bolt patern will be different, 5 lug to 6.

If you want to do a rear leaf with front coil over it's the perfert set of axle you can use. Narrowing them you won't be able to use coil over and you will always have to have custom axle shaft.

Don't know what size tire you want, but with the oem wheelbase you will be able to put 35-36", if more you will have problem with the rear drive-shaft angle.

I bought an early 70's Dodge truck Dana 44 front axle and had the housing narrowed and custom shafts with the 5 x 5.5 pattern installed. It's about the factory Wide Track width, somewhere around 56" WMS to WMS if I remember correctly. It's the axle under my Jeep in my avatar.
