The Warn 8274 I recently picked up has a W winch plate but lacks the mounting brackets to attach to the frame.
Does anyone have a set that they can take pics, and also measure to provide dimensions?
I've seen a couple articles on-line and it looks like it's short sections of angle bolted to the vertical surface of the frame between bumper and grille then fitted with carriage bolts to attach the plate.
I can cobble something up, a head start would be great.

I may be mistaken, but does the 8274 mounting plate actually use the angle brackets to mount along the outsides of the frame rail like many of the later mounting plates do? You could probably use them - and it might even be a good idea - but I think they originally were designed to mount to the top of the frame rails?

I measured the plate holes and the frame holes they are about 1" off. THe plate is just a it too narrow to re-drill, at best there would be only half circles at each edge.
On-line I've found a couple examples of people mounting them and brackets were used.
I'll check with warn, that may be too easy!
My other plan is to get two pieces of 1" plate cut, about 3" wide and 7" long. Each plate would get 4 holes for fasteners (gr 8 countersunk hex through plate and frame and gr 8 penta (theft proof) into threaded holes in plates for winch mounting). I like the thought of plates instead of angle as the thicker section would reduce shear potential on off center pulling (1" bearing area of plate vs 1/4 or 3/8 of angle) and it would look cleaner and stout.

What Fino wrote is correct as there are at least 2 different kinds of winch mounts. The vast majority of them need the L shaped brackets that you're looking for (if you're lucky you can probably find them on Ebay). Instead the older mounts made for the 72/75 frames do not need those brackets and should bolt right on the frame. From what I was able to see (I have a few 8274s and not long ago I actually purchased off of Craigslist an "older" mount) the older are slightly thinner than the newer ones a the holes most likely (haven't tried it yet) match the holes on the frame.
For whomever might be interested here are the instructions for these mounts.

Just today I received an email in reply to my online question to warn. They have great customer service!!!
I received the email with and attachment of instructions for warn winch mount 11310 and part numbers for the components 11110 and 11111 frame mount extensions (rt and lt respectively).
I asked for some additional info regarding the dimensions and offset to be sure it would fit my "w" plate and they offered to make and send me the brackets (out of stock). If they work I pay, if not return them! This is beyond what I'd expect from a company. I've been a buyer and user of their products for years and they had no idea of this, rather they want to take care of owners of their products.
Here is a link to the pdf, for some reason it's not complete (pg 2 and 3 missing)

How much are they charging for the brackets? I may need a set also..... Easier to build another set when set up to do it.

I would like to find one of these. I should probably start with contacting Warn based on all the good things I hear about their customer service.
