Thanks, I'll look into that. Have never done one, but I'll give it a shot.

Pull the knuckle and convert to studs. Pretty simple, safer too.

How do I secure the studs into knuckle? The only studs I've seen have threads on both sides.

Yes, pull that snap ring and check where the bearings ride in that little race. Check the rollers for smoothness. If all is OK, your red grease should be able to allow you to re-assemble it. I usually load up the race with the grease then install the rollers into the greased up race.

Been driving JEEP every day. Steering started really bouncing making it hard to drive. (never had bump steer before) crawled under it to check things out. Grabbed steering shaft and it moved at least 1/4"-1/2". Dove a little deeper and found that the Flaming River u-joint at the box was loose and worn out. Replaced with a used one I had in parts bin, and all back to normal. Ordered a new one to replace it.

re-check all moving parts and tighten all bolts

No actual Jeep work today but my daughter took it for a spin around the neighborhood for a while.

She says her 6 speed Acura shifts and drives easier. Weird I thought

image.jpeg I got the button head bolts in the mail. I read some post's when you guys were all doing this 10 years ago. People talked about the studs at nine and three causing the most problems with interference, so I machined a little off the heads. I also cut into the top two threads, so they seat properly. I tried to do a test fit with the spindle and it doesn't seem to fit. The alignment is not perfect on a couple. I'm thinking I can feed the studs that don't line up through after the spindle is on. Ran out of time, so I'll find out later. Any advice, please let me know.

I've had this jeep since last October and have been pecking away at maintenance and little problems. Engine oil and filter is always the first thing I do but coolant seems to be farther down the list on my projects. I did check it to see that it wouldn't freeze but left it at that until yesterday. I drained flushed and replaced it. What came out didn't look very good so I am glad I didn't wait any longer. I also got the non working over flow bottle straightened out. PO had a good idea but poor execution, crimped hose, wrong angle on inlet, etc. The devils in the details!

Over the last several weeks: about 80% wired, dash and steering column installed. Am I overly optimistic about fully utilizing that 160 mph speedo without an overdrive
;)? Drivers fender has to come back off have a slight steering bind.

Sending the fuel gauge out to be modded so it will work with the later rear tank / sender. Also had the brake pedal out for tweaking as I had a slight rub on the column.
