Yet Another Front Hub Removal Question

I've spent the last couple of nights searching on how to remove the front hubs on my '67 CJ5, without figuring it out.

I've got the bolts removed on the hub but it only comes out about 1/4 of an inch.

    Any hints?

Ultimately I will be installing front disk brakes.

You've got one more bolt to remove.

Seriously though, if I remember correctly, I think that style splits in the middle so you can access the snap ring on the axle shaft. Try tapping it with a mallet. The gasket might be stuck.

Interested in how this turns out. Need to replace wheel cylinders soon.

You need to remove the outer fluted aluminum portion. This should separate after removing the six bolts. You should then see the stub end of the 10 splined axle shaft sticking out. If you clean the grease off, you should find a snap-ring about 3/8" in from the end of the stub. Remove the snap-ring from the inner splined axle, and the rest of the locking hub should slide off. This will expose the two spindle nuts with a locking tab washer between them.

Thanks, with a little persuasion from the mallet, the hub splits where the snap ring can be accessed.

And yes ITLKSEZ I did remove the last bolt...

Would you mind a few more pictures as you take hub and drum off? I'll be doing this in next two weeks repacking bearings and cylinders.
    Appreciate it, and good work!

Yes, though I've got to go buy a 2 1/16 hub socket first. :bananatool:
