100% original. It's not a bumper as such. It's the rear cross member.

Technically it's a cross member not a bumper & it is actually that way from the factory. IIRC it's only longer on the driver's side for the the license plate, it looks weird but it's right.

Two questions for the experts this morning.

First is regarding the clutch/brake cross shaft. I finally got a good look at this part on my 66 CJ5/V6:

    Photo Dec 03, 6 04 23 PM_small.jpg
Nice "field repair" huh? Here are my questions:
    1. What good does the cotter pin inboard from the arm do? Is this OEM?
    2. Obviously the washers are a repair, is this a common failure point?
    3. Is the washer outboard of the frame OEM?
    4. Is the protrusion on the shaft outboard of the frame the woodruff key, and is this OEM? (Replacement part: Brake & Clutch Pedal Cross Shaft Fits 41-71 MB, GPW, CJ-2A, 3A, 3B, 5, M38, M38A1)
    5. If I hammer on the key to get it down into the shaft, is that the way to get the shaft out to repair or replace?
I'm debating the Advance Adapters chain clutch as suggested by Moses Ludel in his Jeep Restoration Guide when I start putting her back together in 2025. Anyone have any thoughts/comments there?

    Question 2:

Are those plates on the transmission support cross member OEM? My mechanic buddy and I started at the driveline for a good long while this AM and he came away with "I can't really think of a reason why anyone would do that." Here is another picture:

    Thanks guys!

Except I think there is only supposed to be 2 spacers on each side for a v6 (at least with a T14/D18) - maybe the T86 had some different number of spacers?

The offset rear crossmember post, more of a "why the heck is this?" question, got me thinking about this:

Why the heck is the shroud above the radiator offset/sloped?

I always assumed the right grillbar had a higher forward mount to help clear the hose connecting the carb to the firewall mounted air cleaner.

OK. Makes sense when looking at a factory engine.

I also confirm 4 spacers, all uniform in size, for the crossmember of a V6/T86AA transmission.

You and I have the same transfer case mount rubber/'Z' bracket. There's been some debate that V6 models shouldn't have one of that style.

question 1 that's a woodruff key ( half moon in shape ) take a chisel and tap it up and out
    shaft is available at walcks
question 2 spacers 2 - 4 needed . what ever it takes to keep transfer case from hitting bottom of floor
never know why PO did that

I have the AA chain clutch and it works great. For me it was a huge improvement over the original cable.

Warning - potentially dumb question. What is the purpose of whatever this thing is that the PO welded in 4 places to my front crossmember? Winch mount? If so, i doesn't have any holes to mount anything to it, and it's crooked when you stare straight down on it from above. I really feel like cutting it off...but before I do that I thought I'd see if anyone can tell me a good reason to leave it?

Push bar or brush guard. In Australia, a 'Roo-Bar.

In the Eighties a lot of cars and trucks had them. Okay for mounting and protecting driving lights.
