Did the dash bezel have that red paint in the W or did you add that?

That was original. Not sure if someone else changed it tho

So for the choke cable I made my own clip

It slides in thru the ashtray

Then the clip is secured thru the screw that holds the tray

    Nice and tight now

Then it was steering wheel time. It was in sad shape but I need to spend on better parts than a new wheel right now

I tried the epoxy thing in the bigger cracks but I'm too impatient to wait that long for it to dry so I used bondo glass

It worked real good. After sanding that smooth I primed it and saw all the spots I missed. I spread finishing glaze on it with my finger and sanded that nice and smooth

    Some more primer

    Came out good nuff

Needed a change of pace so I started playing with the interior making the door panels

Looks great as usual. May be a dumb question but what is the door panel made out of?

  11. Johns1967CJ5

Waterproof cardboard made for door panels

Maybe turned 90 to accommodate a thermostatic flapper valve? I dont have a valve, but if I designed one Id offset inlet flange and outlet flange so the fasteners didnt interfere with each other. Total guess.

    Is that door

Will that cardboard be covered with something else?

They sent pipe for a 230 engine. They sent me the proper one but I just cut the wrong one turned it and welded so now I have a spare

Burnt exhaust valve or broken valve spring on the low cylinder is my guess.

Well that stinks. I can attest that it does smoke pretty bad. Thanks for letting us hang out with ya the other day! I can’t wait to put the seats in my Jeep (y) To all on here, this truck and Johns CJ5 are IMMACULATE in person and his attention to detail is amazing. Keep up the great work, John! Think you’ll try new rings or work on the other motor? Maybe some NO SMOKE in a bottle lol :sneak:

I would like to get this motor drivable for summer, no money to rebuild the other one yet. Too bad you weren't closer, that would have been a lot of pizza and beer nights in the shop I think
