I'm holding the added piece on with my hand. If you look closely, in the shadow, you can see the ball that is part of the carb. and the hole where the single screw holds the other side of the bracket, near my fingers. The ball needs to be pulled down as in the later CJ5 but there's nothing on my manifolds to bolt the later bracket too.

I clicked because have drawings for the v6 linkage, the 134 linkage is available thru kaiser willys. the intermediates had the I6. Let's see if a mod can get this moved so the right people see it. @Focker

Maybe the OP got the wrong cable and did a lil engineering on it. Is the piece 4.070-5 and 4.070-6 on there? If so it may be just a matter of moving the ball end back to where it belongs. Hard to tell from just a pic

The BBD pulls down, but that does not mean the YF has to. It's just rotation, and all that matters is where on the circle the ball stud is placed. Looks like it normally rotates CCW from the rear and the ball stud travels along the bottom 75 degrees or so of the circle.

Ok, now I'll have to go and take another look at it. I'll take another pic. w/o the homemade linkage on it and compare it to that drawing. BRB

Ok, this is what I ended up with. Thanx for the diagram timgr!

I'll have to bend that bracket back into shape so it pulls straight but other than that, SUCCESS!

my 73 is similar... based on Tim's pic, I may be missing that outer piece, unsure what function that serves... secondary/safety spring?

edit: as i look at it more, perhaps its there for alignment? that secondary bracket would bolt into where my throttle cable currently connects

Wayngro... do you have that secondary bracket? hard to tell in your pics, but I believe you do

No, I don't have that outer piece. Maybe I need to find one. This explains why the end of that bolt-on ball was hitting the base of the carb. before I put a few washers under it.

You are missing part 4.070-5. It attaches to the bracket on the throttle shaft that is not removable at the current ball stud location and where the spring is anchored. It moves the ball stud rearward from the current location to better align with the cable bracket. It also could change the radius and location of the stud around the circle - hard to tell from just the drawing.

We have had this discussion here before. As I (vaguely!) recall, the thread stated that the owner had turned in his carburetor core with the bracket attached and the reman carb did not include the bracket. Once you hand in the core, it is gone. This is a common rookie mistake. Moral of the story - if you buy anything remanufactured, wait as long as you can to turn in your core. Compare side by side and transfer everything you can from the core to the reman.

If you were proficient with metal fab, you could make the bracket. You could probably make a few and others would want them too.

I've searched the inner webs and haven't found one yet. I've got the next week and a half off so maybe I'll search the wrecking yards for some early AMC cars and such for that bracket. Mayhaps I will make one up.

    Difficult.

You could try the WTB ads here on the forum. Jeep junkyards are another source. You need to be more specific about which bracket you need. Look at the diagram above and give a number for what you need.
