I like those STs as well for my wagon...have a good, period correct look, but wonder about bias-ply tire if I really drive it a lot around on highways and metro areas...

No doubt they do, funny thing though is when I had Nylon, bias-ply tires they were fine unless it was cold as all get out. :)

The heart and brain should be in unison so don’t buy till they are. Hahaha......
I think best tire for you should depend on how you actually plan to use it, so be realistic about your needs.
Rather than re-type , I suggest you read this thread I had on the 2-A forum.

Thanks for posting the link to that tire thread. It's a really good read. Gives a lot to consider, tire pressure, width, height, and especially weight.

If we all followed that how many would have Jeeps? :D

So basically I would surmise that the STA is a better snow tire and the BFG is a better for general all around useage.
The STA is very well spied and readily accepts lots of studs.
IMHO bias ply flat spots are of virtually no concern on an old rough riding Jeep.
The KM3 is well known to work well in a wide variety of conditions.

Good analysis. I tend to choose a tire that would be the best for the worst situation I would be in, but of course be street worthy also. Florida off road is sand, mud and water. The Goodyear Xtragrip, which the ST design is, worked fine no matter the conditions.

Yeah Glenn your right they do look a lot like the old Goodyear Xtra Grip Hi Milers.
I loved those old M+S tires.
Have not seen a set of them since the mid 1980’s.
    Here’s a flashback......

Yep, a step back in time. Directional was the only drawback to them. If I remember right they did come out with some very similar, or identical to the ST's also. That's what I had in mind as a reference.

That's no joke, a friend of mine had a set on a Commando, I could hear him a long way off. They really worked well though. I remember the tires being around on various vehicles for a very long time.

I bought 6 of the 235 75 16, (5) 35 12.5 17, (4) 205 75 15 trailer tires, and (5) 225 75 15 trailer tires all at the same time. $2100 including freight it averaged $10 per tire and I did have shipped to a commercial address. I did not balance the dually tires because it is an off-road only farm truck. But I did balance the 35 12.5 17's and they used less weight than the 265 70 17's on my GMC truck.

You have to order over the phone and the lady said they were first run tires, just overstock. They were about 12 months old when I got them.
