I'd like to see someone run front and rear geo disks with the stock single master, with adjustable prop valve, and report back whether that whole setup works well.

I'll probably end up doing rear Geo disks on the Roxor.

I posted this somewhere before, but I don't know where. Photobucket might've eaten it.

Disc brake conversion using all OTC parts, pulled from JP Magazine in '07:

I kept original wheels by using 1/2" wheel spacers and slightly grinding the caliber body.

Do the calipers need to be painted? I just finished this upgrade a few weeks ago and noticed some surface rust already.

thats a personal choice. if you dont mind rusty calipers, then nope, dont paint. if you can see them, you may want to, otherwise you will be looking at rusty calipers.

It should work fine. I ran stock single reservoir master cylinder for years with 4 wheel discs using 1/2 ton GM calipers.

Awesome. TY for the feedback. On more of a 'restore' build than I have, the Geo disks are one of a few mods I'd actually do.

Does anyone know if the calipers from the Geo Metro 1995 would work? Thanks!

You might have to grind down the topside corner of the caliper.

So did you end up using the vented rotors from the 4 door Tracker? Are they (and the calipers) from a 1996? I'd like to use those with Brennan's bracket if it'll all go together.

I just purchased a CJ5 and live on a Mountain, have to travel down 1200' pretty steep and would prefer the vented rotors, without the grinding involved with the Chevy parts.

    Thanks

Yes, the vented rotor parts are 1997-ish 4dr Sidekick. They work very well. The 4dr caliper and pads are also bigger. That said, they make for a fairly hard pedal with a stock (pre-66) single master cylinder.

Signal Mountain! I drove my 3B and loaded Bantam trailer down the W Road into Chattanooga 3 years ago. It was really late at night and I was blindly following Google maps directions on my way down from the Spring Willys Reunion. That road is scary (at least at night after 12 hours in a flatfender). Made my mind up right then to switch to discs from the stock 9" drums. I don't trust Google maps anymore...

W Road with a trailer is a chore, at night is tough, when you've never driven it before, damn near impossible. Some people have lived here their whole lives and still don't drive that road. The county has put up flags, signs, and road paint telling the trucks to stay out, yet at least once a week one gets stuck.

We live towards the north a little and take a steeper road (Robert's Mill Road) for the most part. We usually travel down in second gear in all our vehicles, but still - brakes are critical!

Thanks for your help. That's what I'm going to do.

While true, my 1957 CJ5 didn't from the factory.

There's a couple options for this, though not having one isn't nearly the issue in the midwest that it is in ID.
