Why not just keep the transfer case parking brake?

Of the half dozen, or so, early CJ5's I've owned, not one worked. Again, midwest usage, so it wasn't an issue. On a early, fixing it is certainly an option. I've even seen some converted to a disc brake at one point. I'd personally use a line lock over a tcase brake, but that's just me.

On the Roxor side, it doesn't have one to start with.

Mine works quite well. Many on here have them that work quite well. What usually causes problems is transfer case rear output leaks soaking the shoes and drum.

    I’m stumped.
Originally I had 11” drums all around with the Herm dual drum/drum master cylinder. I put the side kick conversion in the front and plumbed in a 2 lb residual valve and although it didn’t pull side to side anymore, the braking wasn’t as good. I removed the residual valve from the master cylinder and still not very powerful braking.
after reading on here, I figure maybe it was the drum/drum master cylinder so I put in a manual disc/drum master cylinder from a 70’s E100 van with manual brakes (it was massive so lots and lots of clerancing.) plumbed in 10lb valve for the rear drums and just drove it around on wet streets.
Rears lock up but I can not get the fronts to lock up even on wet roads. Pedal is firm so I don’t think I have an air problem. I have a proportioning valve plumbed in the rear line and I keep having the turn it down.
is this normal? I don’t know if I have metallic or organic pads in front.
    Thanks for any suggestions

Sounds like a MC to Disc piston ratio problem. With disc fronts you nee to have same or preferably larger MC piston than the Caliper. Remember, its a volume and pressure mix that makes the clamping force.

That or you have some obstruction keeping the calipers from clamping all the way.

2 years in, give or take, and I need to replace the flex lines in front, as they have been wearing on the steering knuckle. that isnt good! I'm going to get stainless steel flex lines up front.

No , it's not normal. Get rid of that residual valve . It's not used when you have a Proportioning valve. Also.......Double check that your Front brake lines are at the Front of your MC.

Its often necessary to pull the calipers off the brackets, place a block of wood in it and point the bleeders straight up.
You'd be surprised how much air is in there no matter how many times you bleed them and get straight fluid.

I'd be interested in p/n's if you are successful.
