Honestly? It depends on what you're wanting to do with it.

In general, the 351W is going to lend itself a bit more to making torque, and is a better engine for Trucks, or Heavier cars.

The 351C, well, you've got two different issues there as well.

If it's a 2bbl Engine, it gets different heads than the 4bbl engine.

The 351C-2V is actually a pretty decent street motor, but it tends to be a bit "peaky" just due to the way it's designed, and the better flow of the canted valve and quench style combustion chamber, vs the 351W Inline valves and wedge style chamber. It's going to work really pretty well in a lighter street car, that you want to spin out a bit, or a weekend warrior drag car that you drive on the street, or in a "Street Truck" application that you'd generally see a 302 (Or later 347 Stroker) in.

The 351C-4V actually has mahoosive heads on it, I can't remember the specs off hand, but the intake runners and valves are almost comically large. It's basically built to spin the crap out of it, and it's not doing a bloody thing till 3500 RPM or even higher, depending on the cam. They put them in street cars, but they're basically race motors, I've driven a few, and especially with an automatic behind them, they're not "pleasant" street cruisers, but will go like hell, if you get the RPMs up high enough.

And then we come to the much maligned 351M. The less said about it, the better, but if people *actually* want to know my opinion, I'll do it.

So in short. Truck or Bronco that isn't going to like the King of the Hammers, or Rockbouncing or something? 351W. Sunday Cruiser Mustang that you might rip down a dragstrip once in a while? 351C-2V, with an aftermarket 4bbl Manfold. Full on Race Mustang or Torino? 351C-4V Boat Anchor? 351M

Well, got the wiring going on my ERS (thank you Jeepd!), then received the axles, but need to take to a shop to have the bearings pressed on and the new wheel studs pressed in. I could probably do the wheel studs, but just soon let someone with a nice press take care of that. My little 12 ton press is good for smaller things.
That's about it~ kids n grandkids are coming in this evening for a long weekend;) But I should be around now n then to see what's up!! ;)

The firing order is a cam difference. Split the firing orders in half. If you compare the two halves you see 3-7 and 5-4 are inverted.
289/302 intakes won't fit either as the 351 block is wider.

Hi guys! Where does the time go! I've been working on my Mustang, finally got the new Unisteer rack installed and it works great! however I found a leak on my engine, need to look further into that:(

Yesterday, I bought from a Facebook market place fella, front fenders original un-cut, and a new front grill, all for 500 bucks;) A new grill alone is 459!
So, I got busy removing the old crap and anxious to see what the Bronco looks like with nice fenders.

So I rolled one of the wheels/tires to see what it might look like
    [IMG]

I'm wanting to go with the un-cut look and I can buy these rear panels which allow bigger taller tires, but unsure if the tires I Have will work.

As a refresher: I have the suspension and tire/wheels from this Bronco, so maybe the wheels will work? If not, I guess I could sell these wheels and get better fitting ones. but I have time and can make that call when the time comes.

Crap~! that time again, time to make supper:)

A local Bronco owner got it touch with me on the Bronco forum, said he had these cutouts from his Bronco. he gave them to me, so I hope I can weld them in and save a bunch of bucks. I look forward to having a Non-cut fender Bronco, well, at least it would look that way!

Got my rear brakes in, so put them together, still waiting for some darned fine thread nuts for the 9", then I can start slapping it together;) I had the axle bearing installed, so they're set to install too!

I hate to be "that guy" but technically this is an "uncut Bronco". Every one of them left the factory with the low rear fenders. The majority were cut.

Yes, I know, but at least I won't have those fiberglass flares, but that is one nice looking Bronco! However, the flares if it came to that, don't look that bad! ;)

I was excited last night, thinking I'll install the 9" chunk, then axles, then wheels and get the thing on the ground, and did just that!

I have to use my brains to install these heavy wheels, my little MuleII did the job, no stress, no strain!

The tub was in my AC garage, now is here ready for body work.

But before the work, I rolled the frame back underneath and lowered the body back on for a test fit, just to make sure all is looking well, especially for the front frame horns that I had welded on~ and they are right on!!;)

This is going to tax me a bit welding these into place, but I'm confident all will go well.

Tomorrow I'll separate the two, put the frame into the AC'd part, out of the way, and begin analyzing the BAD of the tub.

On the engine, I had to remove the oil pan as the dip stick tube was leaking, and so waiting on parts, then going to go ahead and have the C4 Automatic transmission overhauled and look into a correct torque converter.

    I'm having fun!:bananatool:

    Gee, Monday already!

Getting closer to starting this darned engine! Always waiting for a tidbit part. I put the Mustang in the other garage to make room for this setup. I lost the petcock to the radiator of all things. Got the exhaust hooked up.

My two Little Mules always come in handy!

This universal dipstick saved the day.

The piece bolted to the oil pan used to be on the inside, I flipped it, drilled it and threaded it for the new dipstick and worked great!

I didn't even want to post this ~ I got to work on the tub and knew it was bad, , but still within my capabilities. I'm working on putting the tub on the rotisserie, but it won't be able to be flipped upside down, and really no need to. But will be able to get at about 45degrees I'd say. Enough so the sandblaster can get at places on the underneath. Parts are readily available, so that's good. The pics don't really show everything~ I'll post that later, but chickens about ready to come out of the oven, so got to get to the stove

surprised this isn't done. you did more with 2 jeeps in a shorter timeframes than most people do with 1 jeep in their entire ownership of it. dont let the chickens in the oven distract you. I need to see this bronco done!

I was going to ask about floorboard rot (which is common on early Bronco's), but assumed with the depth of your rebuild, that it was either acceptable or you had replaced them.
Also might not be a bad time to think about installing a stock saddle tank.
Cutting the fenders was the most expedient way to fit taller/wider tires under the rig. Are you sure your current rubber is going to work without rubbing?
4" lift? what degree bushings did you install?
Don't forget to add a bottle of LS lube to the rear......

Gee guys, this isn't a jeep~ jeeps are pretty easy and not nearly as expensive. Plus, I Just don't want to rush this and have fun with it~ as I love being in my garage;)

Jeepdad, I put 2 degree bushings which were in it, so I went back with them(new of course). I'm amazed how high the rig sits, it's pretty cool.
again, I have the suspension as what's in this picture as well as the wheels/tires, so that's what I have. As for a gas tank, it has a 23 gallon rear tank and the saddle tank had been removed, but would be possible to install it, but I did plan to put the hole for it and a fake gas cap/plumbing for it if it came to that.

As for clearance with stock front fenders and the idea of welding in the mouldings as pictured, just not sure that's what I'm going to do~ kind of wishy-washy, not shown is alot of through holes in the rear fender, front and rear. I can weld in metal to take care of that. The only reason for the stock look, the new(used front fenders) are uncut, and just hate the idea of cutting them. but would be easier just to cut the fenders and be done with it.

my tail light housings are pretty bad at the bottoms of both sides. The upper parts are ok~ But parts are available so there's no stress for parts unless they're stuck on boats off the coast of California.

Gary, my guy;) Suggested just buying a new tub (dissassembled), but I'm not at that point and the assembly would probably be intense~ but I'm not there
Body Tub Kit, Unassembled - TOMS OFFROAD
    or
DELUXE Body Tub Kit, Unassembled - TOMS OFFROAD

There are options, but still am taking the tub to be blasted soon; just trying to adapt my rotisserie right now, but I'm not going to let them coat it, I can do that here this time.
ok, going to make some coffee;)
