Now that I am cruising at highway speed without fear of death it's time to get after the leaks. This is my first closed knuckle Jeep. The large felt seal I get. It appears to be seeping from the lower king pin cap. as well. It assembled correctly there should be no shim on the lower caps. Before I use "the right stuff" what is the preferred sealant on this cap? Thanks

    Permatex #2 is my go-to.

Also be aware that the bolts which hold the axle spindle tube and brake backing plate to the knuckle may leak into the brakes unless they are sealed too.

Also available a liquid in a brush-pot. Good stuff. In my experience the #2 is heavier/thicker, useful at times.

Besides the felt seal, there is a rubber seal as well. Insure you replace that also. The split obviously goes in the up position.

I like to pull the knuckle and run emery cloth over the knuckle sealing surface. I've found that most knuckles have a wear groove in the straight ahead position which can make sealing impossible.Doing this also give me a chance to inspect the lower (load bearing) and upper (the rusty, unlubed ) bearing as well as reset the bearing preload.
