I'm waiting until the trans and tcase are bolted up before I start to work on the cross member and floor pan.

I used my stock crossmember and fabricated and bolted a bracket off the back of it with a standard GM think 2 bolt trans mount. aluminum adapter sat basically 1" behind the cross member. it worked great. Yep on the cover, cut it down the middle and added a strip, it worked great.

Not much jeep time this weekend, but I took a half hour to tear apart the big hole tcase. I'll only use the case and the pan, and use all the guts from the other case.

Lots of good information in this thread. I'll be doing the same to snowshoe next year.

I made a bracket/linkage setup on my T18 in Ted to make the transfer case shifters come through the original hole in the floor.

Finally got a little free time today to put the tcase together, ready to go on the back of the 4 speed.

Might wanna rethink that drum based on recent experience. Mmmhmmm.

It's nothing like what you experienced, but mine does show evidence of some rock damage...

The twin stick D18 front housing won't fit behind a T18. I had intended to mock this up with the bare case, but I totally spaced it out, so I had to do the transfer case bench press several times with the complete case while I got that sorted out. I had to grind approximately 1/4" off the tcase to get it to bolt up. 20221016_171545.jpg

    It fits!

    Install OD
Modify crossmember (or build a custom one?)
    Get driveshafts modified.
    Hook up clutch &E brake.
Figure out OD shifter. (anyone with a T18 & OD please feel free to share pics of this!)
    Heat & bend shifters.
Modify or build new trans cover.
    Probably something I'm forgetting...

    • Hook up backup light switch
    • Swap front yoke in D27 for larger U-joint
    • Fill everything with oil and make sure the drain plugs are tight!

Maybe...the 4 speed has a switch for them which the T90 did not.
Pretty low on my priority list though.

It really is pretty easy. I found a small LED light, I think Amazon, that fit right in the factory hole in the bumper.

Started mocking up the trans mount...I think I'll be able to use the stock crossmember with only minor modifications.
My exhaust system however, I think that's going to be a problem

Bare metal, or is that paint on the case?
