It has begun. Ran when parked...

Just had not wanted to start since then.
Engine allready has issues with rust in cyl 2 I think so picked up a good used engine from kenb a year or 2 ago now

I hope you still think it's a good used engine once you get it installed.... Good luck the swap.

Now the fun part. Gotta go up in the rafters and throw some 2x's up there and a eyelet to hook onto.

Engine is unbolted and ready to come out

    That's a lot of un-welding...

Managed to jack it up high enough.
I want to slap the new one back in but just ordered a new bearing retainer for the trans with a neoprene seal. And some motor mounts.

That will give me time to make up an alternator bracket and get the hydrolic pump I have in the shed figured out. Had a monarch pump with a separate reservoir when I first got it. I threw a hy-lo pump on and it dumps oil out as fast as you put it in. That and doesn't work so good with an alternator

Well, I decided to swap stuff over to the newer engine and get it ready to go in. Pulled the clutch and found this.

Guess I'll be waiting for sure now for parts between the engine and trans.

Should've sold it to the guy I work with last week:lol:

I had a bracket to mount my Monarch pump on the drivers side of the engine. It used two of the head bolts to mount it. It had an attached reservoir on it, with 2 rods thru the dash to operate it (4 way plow).
Ditched that and converted to a Meyer E-47 unit. I never found a Monarch pump that wasn't worn out.

Yea, I've got the bracket still on the engine. The monarch pump body is pretty much the same in the hy-lo and stand alone pump. I went thru one maybe 10 years ago. Hoping I can put new seals in this one and call it good. Just brought it into the garage. I'll pull it apart tomorrow

    And today's the next week:D

Put the new bearing retainer on, put the new clutch and pressure plate in, and broke a bolt in the flywheel:rolleyes:. Luckily it spun out the back after a little drilling. Then realized I had to take it all back off anyways to put the close off plate in the new engine. So, got the clutch all ready to go now and tomorrow I'll push the jeep back and hoist the engine back in.

Finally got the engine back in. Input shaft caught me for a bit. Thought the splines where in the clutch but it was just a hair off.

    Next weekend for the rest

Hadn't planned on doing a build thread but it's getting to that point...

Worked on making an alternator bracket yesterday. Got the adjusting arm machined. Need to stop and get some steel for the mount later today or probably tomorrow after the roads clear.
