Hey, I'd like to chime in here? I've got a Renegade 1, that's Sierra Blue. I bought it from the original owner, back in 1986. I don't know all the history if the Renegades, but what i've read on line. I've heard a lot of the Orange and green ones, but not much about the sierra blue ones. I know there a at least 4 of them, tha i've seen on the internet, with the identical paint job as mine. And it looks like they came with the same options as mine.

I need to recheck my vin numbers. If I remember it was hard to tell if the 5 was a 6. Jeep is at the body shop now. I remember a tag on it with a paint code 999 on it. I'm going to have it repainted the Sierra Blue ,and the R1 strips put back on it. Still have the original dash pad, it's in good shape.

Yes fctex, you were spot on with that vin# It is 8305017 364779. It's a Sierra Blue. It only had 3800 miles on it when I bought it from the original owner. Motor was blown up, so it sat under a carport for 5 or so years, before I got it. It seems like a standard r1 package. Buick 225 v6, dana 27 up front 44 in the rear. 4:88 gears. T14 3 speed.T18 transfer case,Warn overdrive, I think it had 10 leafs in front and 8 in the back, can't remember for sure. Swing out tire carrier, pin strip seats,3 gauges in the dash,Ramsey 8000 pd PTO up front, and little steps on the side. One thing I've noticed that I seen different on other 70 R1 is the radio antenna is on the top of the right fender, instead of on the side of the fender. Parking lights on the fender, also. It also had the old style backup lights and taillights, with the metal ring that holds them in.

Being a new Ren I owner I’ve been scouring old threads for info and came across this one. My vin is 8305037 367398 - only 19 apart from bolingball123! The dash sticker on mine shows a build date of September 1970, orange with no hood stripe, and tailgate.

I wonder if the Renegades were built in batches.

Zoomer, I've often wondered the same thing. I have 2 R1's in Prairie Gold. 362017 and 362023. Only 6 apart!

Hi am wondering what kind of Jeep I have. Oddball. Seems all original but has renegade 1 on side and renegade 11 on front fender. Which I know should not be there. Built sept 1970. Has a tailgate. Rear fill gas tank. And orange. So it has characteristics of a renegade 1 and 11. Could it be a mismatch when AMC bought? Or?? Here are some pictures. Thank you!

I've seen a green one like this here in WA. All sorts of oddball mismatch stuff, but owned by the son of the original owner. It too has R1 on one side and RII on the other side and features of both models. I guess if these keep surfacing we'll have to call them Renegade 1.5's

IMG_2178.jpeg IMG_2180.jpeg I found this Jeep Model Identification in the back of my Service Manual ( Jeep Universal Series ) reprinted 1975

If you look at the Model - CJ5 RENEGADE II it shows Engines V6 or V8-304? Has anybody heard or know of A Renegade II with a V8-304?

It's an error. They list Renegade II as both 1971 and 1972, which isn't correct. I don't think we can trust the Great Pumkin

Agreed. I had a buddy in high school with a 72 Renegade. 304 V8 but no # designation. 72+ Intermediate Jeeps were just "Renegade" package with varying hood stripe designs.
