There is a plate welded into the inner side of the driver’s side wheel well. Is this some Bubba way to fill in a hole or is there supposed to be something structural there?

Looks like bubbaweld to me. But might be useful as a backing plate now, for something or other.

That's on the driver side, looks like someone filled a reflector or sidemarker hole but soldered there backer plate in.

Wrong side. Unless custom mod or for the British Empire market.

There are a pair of holes on each side of the floor in front of the drains. Any ideas what these are/were for? The three holes (only two visible in this photo) in front of them are for my roll cage. Thanks.

My knee jerk guess is atrachment points for a step of some sort that a later owner didn't care for.

There could probably be an entire what the heck is this thread dedicated to holes in the jeep!

Are these holes just to help keep my tools damp?!

Don't need holes for that :)

Not sure what year your tub is but that's close to where the early seat hinges would go, although there should be four.

I believe they mount the seat hinge/brackets.

Added bonus is that I now know that I don't need to ask whether my seat brackets are original! Thanks.

If your tub is original 1965, your passenger seat should have used those cast forward mounts for a fold/tumble original seat. In ‘66-up the seats changed to an elevated horizontal bar the seat hinged on.
Your original side steps originally mounted to threaded inserts on the bottom of the hat channel. Looks like those hole are there too.

here’s a pic of the seat bar on my ‘70. I assume it’s stock. Mine still has the holes in the tool box as yours though.

Yes, thats the correct seat bar/hinge setup for ‘66-up. By the way, thats also the changeover year for molded foam seats (as you have) from the earlier tied coil spring seats.

Any thoughts? Son in law dug this out of the dirt while excavating someone’s property. It has something that looks similar to an alkaseltzer on the bottom….
