Heat shield? It has a textured surface that looks like it had some material attached to it.

Lead-based paint chips or modern epoxy based paint chips?

i think the titanium dioxide chips have a hit of mint when you’re looking for something extra

My neighbors house has asbestos shingles on the roof. Haven't tasted them yet. Up here in the Sierra's they probably have a hint of Pine to them.

We used to play with asbestos and mercury when we were kids :D

I recently bought a box of tools at an estate sale because there were some high quality tools in the box that I could use.

Found some "punches" like I have never seen before and am curious about what they may be for.

    Anyone have any idea?

    Are any leading edges sharp?
Could they be aligning tools of some type? Used similar to a clutch aligning tool.

No sharp edges, and these all have defiantly been struck on the other end by a hammer, so some sort of punches, not alignment tools.

For "countersetting" pins to a fixed depth for some reason?

They might be valve guide drivers. I had some of those from an old toolbox of my dad's. I didn't know what they were either.
I've done several image searches and feel like my 'guess' is close.

The smaller ones are far too small to be valve guide drivers, but perhaps they may be for something similar.

Inside the box were a "Proto" brake spoon, several sizes of center punches, drift punches, and cold chisels. Plus these concrete anchor setting tools.

The brake spoon is what got my attention since I have misplaced the one I have had for more than 50 years. Pretty good haul for $2 I think.
