IMG_3023.jpeg IMG_3022.jpeg Out with the roll bar.
For future reference, 1 ten foot stick of 3/4 EMT, carefully bent with a bit of trimming, makes a nice one piece bow for a bikini top.
May still need to add a stay between the bow and windshield, we’ll see.

My oil pressure gauge still had the plastic oil pressure line connection to the engine. It was just a failure waiting to happen. I bought the -4AN x 48" braided steel line from amazon that I posted in the "black friday deals" thread last week. It looks to be a quality made item and it came with fittings I needed to install it.

The 48" was the perfect length, BUT I moved the oil pressure gauge to a more logical location, see below (the wire nut you see here is just the HEI tach connection point, not an electrical connection.)

Voltmeter in its' new home where the oil pressure used to be. Location is important for an ammeter but not so much for a voltmeter, so it and the oil pressure gauge switched places.:

By the way the modern Stewart-warner voltmeter is a poorly designed, poorly manufactured P.O.S. I put a Bosch gauge on my Christmas list.

Oil pressure gauge in its' new home, where the voltmeter used to be and closer to the oil pressure gauge connection on the engine:

Worked on the D44 and got one axle removed, ...... the top pic is with the bearing all pushed together, .... the bottom pix is pulling back on the bearing, .... looks like I should replace them, ..... looks like there is a lot of movement, and if I want to give my oil bath idea a chance I need to replace the oil seal. ...... Jeep, ...... well you all know the acronym.

My pal came by 2 weeks ago & we started with the basics . Had two wires crossed , that I must of done while in desperation mode. We gapped new plugs @ 45 & she ran a lot better .
He wanted me to run with that for a while & then see. Mileage dropped to ~ 12 MPG .

Today , I regapped the plugs down to 35. Excellent read on all six , after replacement & 200 or so miles . I had already replaced the broken / burnt wire that was causing the backfire., that's when I most likely crossed them up . Put air in the tires to run 35 PSI for the hi-way travel I start next week , 'Bout an hour each way.
Hopefully , I can get her back up to the 15 + MPG .

Today was depressing, I finally got the axle shafts out of the Dana 44. I test fit them into the new locker, ...... they were too small, :susp: The eaton box said 913A589 Dana44 30 Spline. ....... The part it's self said 913A550, Amazon strikes again. :banghead:

The last day to return the part was Nov29:censored:
Amazon's customer non service informed me the last day to return the part was Nov 29

    bluesmokemonster blue-smokemonster or bluesmoke-monster?

I've got one of those NIB. I ordered the wrong one for my gear set last year but didn't find out until after last day to return. Maybe you can talk me out of it.

    Nice to meet you yesterday!
I am currently messing around with the steps, deciding if I want to go hunting for some different hardware.

What year is your A1? Older than 54 by looking at the front grill.

Great looking jeeps, and your whole post is near and dear to my heart, as my grandfather, a Korean war Chosin Reservoir veteran, rests at the Canterbury veterans cemetery.

Good eye, it's a 54. Civilian grill but does have accommodations for hinges on the frame.

Thank you....I've had it for years and it was short money at the time. I think I'll leave it on permanently since I like it and it'd a bit of a pain to install without help. I've had it on and off a few times but this time around it's rattle free thanks to Shaun!

I enjoyed meeting you as well. Thanks for meeting me halfway. Got the bikini top ordered from Bestop, now all I have left to do on Uriah Jeep is the wiring!
