I think those vents are JC Whitney specials. I tried talking them into having me delete them, but the guy wanted to keep them.

They went with an intermediate front clip to help package everything. I hinted earlier around the treatment that the front fenders were going to get…
Since I gave my two weeks notice (again) because I have a decent job lined up, it’s probably not going to be me doing the work, but I talked them into patching the rear section of early fenders into the intermediate fenders shown. That will give 4 extra inches of room for those giant tires in full flex.

The way you're replacing the body piecemeal, this Jeep should be named Johnny Cash.

    This one’s just a 6.something LS.

The aluminum-bodied Scrambler next to it is the Godzilla. A quick note on that, it’s going to need a different intake to fit in there; it’s still up in the air if we’re ordering a $900 low profile intake, or a $10k supercharger. Chump change.
    :gaah:

I remember someone saying the intake would need to be addressed if an LS is put in a CJ. Never crossed my mind hood height was the issue.

He's talking about intakes for the Ford 7.3l Godzilla. The factory one is pretty tall and the throttle body comes off it at a weird angle. I could see it hard to get an elbow on that without hitting the hood:

    Thanks for clarifying!

Not sure what the “issue” was with the LS intake that someone mentioned.

Jon B. Retired three times; still working.

The ‘truck’ intake manifolds on LS engines are pretty tall. Some swaps may need to use a car manifold, which is shorter. Mounting te engine lower is opening it up for all sorts of interference issues - front differential, rocks, etc.

I would think someone could fab, mill, 3d print a wedge to go between the 7.3 intake and throttle body.

Still plugging away on this body. I think all the major body re-work is complete. Now it’s just down to modifications.

The last section of rot was replaced today. I was holding off on this just in case the wheel arch was going to come up that high, but it’s not.

I had to fab these doghouses to allow room for the tires at full flex. The troop seat wheelhouses are in the way, but the jeep’s owner is insistent on keeping them, so they at least need to be clearanced.

I spent Tuesday doing arts and crafts. Made a template for a new transmission tunnel.

Looks to me like some work worthy of Chip Foose. We need to come and hang out with you just to soak up some of that knowledge and your Jedi Like skills in metal work and fabrication.
    Really looking good.

    That's looking good.
now a wee bit of critique... What is the reason for the upper slanted area against the firewall? It doesn't flow as well as everything else. Reminds me of the granny 4 speed add on cover with all the faces. Maybe a generous bend radius and steel will help. it'll be hidden by the dash but something feels off.
