What Gas Pedal And Linkage Did You Use With A 225 V6?

I am not finding a lot of good clear detailed information on what pedal assembly and linkage that's needed when converting to a 225 V6 in a CJ2A. Would greatly appreciate how you did yours with lots of pics.

    Thanks, Jim

I think the easiest, and what I used, is the stock '66-'71 V6 pedal and linkage. Someone on here might have one. I can get a photo tomorrow, if needed.

I pulled a pedal from the salvage yard. Something that had a simple cable.

Make this but instead if the last 1.870" just make a tight loop for your original pedal to press against and put a small spring in to hold them together. I do have an extra firewall bracket but it's bare, no arms or bent rod.

I absolutely HATED the accelerator pedal on my 67 CJ 5 225. That hanging pedal didn't know the meaning of ergonomics and was close to impossible to control in the rocks. Whatever you install, a floor hinged pedal should be part of it.

Ok then. I have it in 4 jeeps and never bothered me in 45 years of jeeping. Never had a control problem (with the accelerator). I'll shut up now.

I find it super awkward to drive the in-laws jeep with the hanging pedal. I must be the wrong shoe size or something.

When I drive the '69 with the hanging pedal for any amount of time, I usually end up with my foot up on the transmission cover next to the shifter so I don't get a crap. No such issues with the floor pivot pedal in the '71.

Here's mine. It came out of an FSJ. I used a Lokar cable.

PO had installed a hanging pedal of unknown origin. I removed the pedal from the arm and installed a skateboard bearing at the end of the arm, which then rides on an original style pedal bolted to the floor.
