Questions concerning the underseat tank.

    Ok, pulled the underseat tank. Some of those bolts and nuts for the seat mount are real interesting to get to. Made me wish I had an extra length of arm between the two elbows needed to reach both the underside of the tub and the inside at the same time.

    What is the best way to clean the tank? Now that it is out, I don't think the fuel pickup is part of my ragged running problem. Looks more like the Carter YF, although that was pretty clean when I pulled the top to check the float level and make sure the float wasn't leaking.

    Light a match on a long stick?:twisted:
    Line of black powder on the ground leading to it? ( I have a pound laying around cause I haven't been out shooting lately):twisted:
    New tank (no money, so that is out.):evil:

    Also thinking about pulling the adjuster rails off the bottom of the drivers seat. They seem to be frozen solid anyway and don't want to move. Plus the seat needs to be lower by an inch or so. Keep my head out of the header bars of the roll cage and make it easier to see the stop lights past the top edges of the windshield. And give me a little more room for my legs between the steering wheel and the seat. After markets, not original:(

    My preference is having a radiator shop clean it and coat it inside. You might try searching also, there's been a good bit of discussion on this subject recently.

    Or you can get a new steel tank for around $140 at 4WD Hardware. Or a new plastic one for $150.

    I welded nuts to the set frame so I wouldn't have to do that.
