Your idea for the scout transmission case sounds good! Those have studs that thread into the front right? I bet you could bolt it up just by drilling holes in the Pinto Bell.

I don't think the Jeep input is going to work so well though. It's 1 1/8" vs. 1 1/16" so you'd have to find a different clutch disk. (According to this page anyway) I know the tip is longer than the Ford input, but I don't think it's any smaller. You'd have to compare it to the Pinto input to be sure.

The Ford input shaft I'm using in my Jeep works fine, and the only thng I had to do was have a common Ford pilot bushing turned down to fit inside the flywheel. It didn't cost much to have it turned down and the Ford input is a whole lot easier to find than the Jeep input. If I had to do it over again, I would try your Scout case idea, but I'd use the Ford input again.

Yup the scout uses studs in front of the case.

Hmmm, I know there are two different jeep inputs, I will have to check that.

    Thanks, for the input

Hows the swap going Jeepaholic? Have you figured out what wiring to use from the donor vehicle yet?

Not really started it yet. Still working on the frame and body. I found this when I was searching for some 5.0 HO wiring stuff

The link in that post is dead. Anyone have any information on the adapter used to bolt the 2.3 to the T-98?

The adapter was home made. Three of the 4 bolts lined up on the edge or just outside of the T-5 Bellhousing so I had 1" thick ears welded to the bellhousing. For the 4th bolt, I had extra material welded in behind it. Then all 4 were tapped and drilled. I am using a Ford T-18 input shaft and bearing reatiner which is slightly smaller than the T-5 bearing retainer. To make up the difference, brass was added to the bearing retainer in 4 different places and turned down to the right diameter. Finally the T-18 input shaft was shorter and the tip was bigger, but it still reached through the cluth disc. I bought a pilot bushing that was the correct ID and had it turned down to fit inside the flywheel. I used some loctite to hold it securely in place. That's it in a nutshell. It's still working today without any problems.
