225 throwout bearing question

I have searched and googled and cannot find the article I read this in but someone somewhere did an article on eliminating the hard clutch pedal on a Jeep cable clutch. in that article they mentioned the proper throwout bearing face to use with a diaphram pressure plate vs a 3 finger. if I recall correctly the diaphram type throwout had a slightly convex face while the 3 finger type had a flat face. am I just dreaming all of this?

I've always thought a factory diaphram was easier than a finger type.

reason I ask is that I believe I have a flat throwout running on a diaphram PP. there is a point during release where it gets really hard to push. been a few years since I installed it but the clutch has been really hard to push since I got the jeep.
