This bracket handing down with the hole in it ... what's that for?

Looks like I have the wrong clutch arm (T86AA to 225)? Yes I know my adjuster nut is loose ...

Why the spacers for a stock setup? And it looks like the x-member was moved fwd?

Anybody know what the part number is for a broken off open end wrench coat-hanger'd in to hold a "retro-fitted" clutch linkage cable (not stock on a 1966 I think)? This is taken outside the frame rail just behind the clutch pedal arm ...

First pic., may be a bracket that held a bearing for a P.T.O. winch shaft.
Second pic., Looks like a normal clutch arm to me , the return spring bracket is not stock, but i'm not sure on that.

Another pic of the clutch arm ... the angle on it looks right, but I thought it should be more forward - there is not much clearance between the arm and the back of the bellhousing hole. Don't the correct Buick arms have a "Z" in them, so the end of the arm is more fwd? I was having a situation where I could not get the slack out of the linkage cable because the adjuster was bottoming out on the threaded rod. I may have to cut some of the rod off. Or I may get an AA chain setup (yes, the arm on the clutch tube inside the frame rail is there).

Ditto on Love the Wrench; aviation style safety-wiring too! File under "Things That Work."

Ditto on the possible PTO bearing bracket idea. It is just about the right place for one.

Spacers? Maybe attempts to align driveshaft angles to a spring/suspension modification??? Except they don't seem to add up right.

It may be bottoming out because the cable has stretched. I'm running the AA chain set up and have had no problems with it. Been using it for about 8 years now on my 67.

Several Jeeps had the spacers stock but they were made out of oak. There are different sets of holes for the crossmember depending on what trans it ended up with.

    nickmil In mothballs.

Some of the spacers were oak but not all. I have a couple of sets that were steel flat stock with holes drilled/punched in them with the corners rounded off. At first I thought they were owner installed but from too many different Jeeps and they are all the same, exactly, for them all to be owner fabbed. Just pulled some from the '67 parts Jeep with the T-86 and 225 also. There were either 3 or 4 on each side, I'd have to look. Have them wired together and hanging on the parts wall.

    Wow!
That's one of the cool things about owning a Jeep.
Trying to figure out WHY this or that was there..
    Love the wrench.
I showed it to my son who's going to school to be a tech.
"Tool abuse 101" or........... what to do with the stubby wrench......
Looking at all the "Farkles" underneath, the first pic of the bar stock bolted to the frame could be for ANYTHING!
Heck, it might even have been there to keep the steering arm lined up cuz it was so worn at one time!
Now, you gotta think, that took a LOT of time to cut the wrench, drill the holes, (with dull drill bits no less (it must have went down like this, "Dang! no clutch-again! Let's see, I could unthread all that and add a couple washers, but it coverd with cow manure and rust and I ain't got no WD-40, and it take a good 5 minutes, er, Hey! There's Cleatis's 5/8" wrench over there in that puddle of motor earl. I could spend ALL day making this"...........
The spacers for the trains, have to be at some time they had too much drive shaft angle.

Don't scratch your head and try to figure it out! It's a Jeep, as you can see, just about anything will work!

  13. ditto above mine had a piece of chain bolted from the transfer case to the frame to keep the clutch pivot rod from falling out.
