i decided to get arctic on my 1/2 cab.
    (my daily driver year round)
i have a bunch of 2" thick foam insulaing board and double sided tape.
as well as a pile of 1" thick board.
there is a hole drilled in the center of my roof.
so i got a 14"x2" piece of flat stock ,drilled a hole through it
    ran a bolt through it
and used it to hold a sheet of the thick stuff up tight against my roofs interior.
now i am cutting sections of the 1" stuff and fitting it in all the sections of the tub and cabs interior.

one other thing i did to button up the slug was.
i used a can of expanding foam insulation and squirted it over all the holes that wires/cables run through on the firewall.
the coup de grace will be stuffing rockwool insulation (plastic wrapped)
up into the area behind the dash board.
next i have a sheet of 1/2" flexible sheet closed cell plastic.
kind of like a sleeping pad.
and will line the floorboards with it.
everything i am doing is removable.

i thought about how to insulate this for a long time.
this seems like the best way for me.
    it was FREE too!

Cool Bill! I loved my hardtop before I ruined it in a roll over:( The half cab should be easier to heat being a smaller area. What do you have for a heater? I'm sure the insulation will help on the noise levels also, although I never really had a problem with the noise in my full cab but then again my hearing isn't all that well.

i have the summit 28000 BTU heater.
i am about 2/3 done insulating
and yes it is a lot quieter. (thank goodness!)
last winter the heater just couldnt keep up with the cold and drafts.
it never got actually warm in the cab.
    like i said.
i used expanding foam insulation in the fuel line hole under the seat.
    the ones in the firewall.
and the gaps in the top itself.

Bill are you going to put a finish panel of some sort on the inside? Theres a material they sell at Lowes that I wanted to use and I can't think of the name of it. It was bright white maybe vinyl type of stuff.

Well I might have to invest in one. Thanks. How do those half tops work with a roll cage? Or does yours have the roll bar?

    i got the roll bar.
it is about 1/2" from the back of the cab
    just enough to not rub.

    update
    that blue stuff sqweaks.
    i cant live with that.
i'm crazy enough already and i dont need any help to get more so.
but i have some of the white plastic closed cell stuff that is a lot like those old camping sleeping pads we used to use.
so that is what i am going to use.
    it is about 1/2"thick.

That sounds like it should do the trick.

i just finished insulating my floors with that stuff that looks like foil lined bubble wrap and put down my heavy rubber floor mats.
and i stuffed 1" bubble wrap rolled up into the big dead air space behind the dash.
i took it for a spin just now and was SHOCKED at how much quieter it is.
how come nobody tells me these things?
    ;)

i am almost done with the rigid foam board insulation of the body and cab panels.
this is is going to be shipshape for the winter

if you drove one of these things to work 5 days a week
    ALL WINTER.
you would be all over this idea.

the noise deadening is shocking ron.
i should have done this the day after i got it running.

before i couldnt even use an ipod while driving the slug.
not without turning it up loud enough to be uncomfortable.
