AX5 rebuild

Got the AX5 on the bench to start the rebuild. I am stuck on one part. I am pulling the front housing from the intermediate plate. All bolts are off, but i have an issue. The housing will pull off about an inch and then stop. There is a casting on the front housing that holds the end of a shaft and the center bottom counter shaft hits this casting when pulling the cover off. I have the factory manual and it doesnt indicate this and it says it should pull right off. Anyone with experience with this?

Any snaprings on the shafts?

 

Still having the problem but i may have found it out. i pulled the rear housing and still cant get the front off. There is a stud in the front housings that goes all the way out. i believe if i can remove the stud i can twist the front housing off. I need to go get another nut for the stud so i can lock the two nuts and then try to spin the stud out of the housing. So i will see if it works tomorrow, i believe it should.

 

My info for the 15 says use bfdeadblowh and seperate case from plate. Dont know if its the same as the 5
