Gonna put this one back to stock. I have a fresh rebuilt F-head and will do the trans and transfer case along with all the brakes. I will try to take some pictures as I go. 17.000 miles on it. It hasn't been licensed since 1967.

Nice! Is that a hand wiper on passenger side? If it is can you take a picture. Of both sides.

So the motor that came in it turns out to have been a fresh rebuild that was never run. Currently pulling it all down to see what all needs to be freshened up or might still stick with plan A which was a fresh rebuild that is ready to go. Decided to go with 10" brakes all the way around so the original wheels will fit without issues. I had several sets of them and even had a set of new drums. Threw in a new master and doing all the lines. I will try to take some pictures but never think of it while I am working.

It looks like a normal hand wiper. Almost everything on it looks like left over flatfender parts. Why re-invent the wheel?

I had to make the arm on mine from another cj5 hand wiper, I cut down the wiper arm then had to weld the threaded part that goes to the handle to make it longer to go through the windshield frame.

Nice score on engine. Your 56 is the only one I've seen online or not with the hand wiper still there with ventalated windshield.

Not just any hand wiper. A hand wiper on a venting ('safari') windshield.

Making some progress with motor, trans and transfer case ready to go in. All the brakes, lines and hoses are all new.
