Hard Top?

This hard top has been on local CL (fairly local, 2 hrs away). Says it is for a '68. While I do have a '68 and a '69, the '69 is the one I'd rather put it on. I honestly haven't looked at this closely as the '69 is a recent purchase, but I think I remember the windshield frame shape changed between the two years? If true, likely easily remedied with a windshield swap.

Still debating as I don't really "need" it, it is missing some glass and clearly needs some work...could likely get it for $200-250 since it has been listed for 2 weeks now.

I am dead center on the fence and would welcome any feedback talking me into or out of this...

I think the top will still be interchangeable, as the shape of the windshield glass was the difference, not the top of the windshield. The physical windshield size changed in '76.

The outer windshield frame is the same, it's only the glass shape that changed in those years. '55 to '75 is the range for fitting, unless someone put a '76 up windshield on an earlier one. Personal preference and Jeep usage generally dictates whether one wants a hardtop.

I would offer no more than the $200 you mentioned, looks like some rust on the roof?

Most important is the filler pieces that go onto the windshield and the hinges for the doors. Without those pieces the top has very little value of it's own.

I personally, and that means my preference, is to not have a top at all, I like my Jeep the best with the windshield laid down, no doors or top. I do use my soft top in early spring and late Summer, but enjoy it most with no top at all, my dog doesn't have to stick her head out the window. Good Luck.
