When I was installing my hanging pedals, I used a piece of 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe for the steering column. Easy to installing and no steering wheel

Got the T18 in and the TC temporarily installed.

Lots more work to do but this is one big step forward.

Are you using the BOP T14 bellhousing and just drilled it out to fit the T18?

Drilled out the bell housing one hole. Had to file / elongated the upper holes on the T18 . The directions were pretty good with the Novak kit.

Made a crossmember for the new transmission.

That looks good! Im not super happy with how low my modified stock crossmember hangs down for my t18 swap. It looks like you're mounting your transmission higher too

I used my finger as the gauge to determine the proper height of the assembly - from the exhaust to the floor pan support there is enough room for my finger to fit but not past my knuckle. Very precise I know!

I have the clutch and transmission working (as far as I can tell). Last night installed the crossmember. I'm going to need to have the rear shaft shortened about 1.5". The front should be OK as it was pretty much pushed all the way in with the other transmission. I need to remount the fuse box and move a couple wires around. Then I can work on mods to the transmission cover. Slow progress on this project but feeling good about how it is coming out.

    The last couple weeks:

Here is how I bent the clutch pedal out about 2.5" so I got the proper amount of travel and they didn't bottom out against the floor.

The brake pedal needed to be about 1" longer and move out an inch or so, so we cut it off and made a filler piece out of 3/8" steel.

It's good to have friends. Better to have friends with a mill and a lathe.
I somehow needed the clutch push rod to be about an inch longer so Hobby made me a new one!

One of the upgrades I’m making with the T18 swap is to get rid of the old TC mount parking brake. I’m installing the auto adjusters on the rear now.

The brakes that came with the jeep are 11” from a 73-74 CJ (as best I can tell) so they are made to have parking brake as part of them. I just need a few more parts (ordered) inside the drums to make it all happen.

The rear driveshaft ended up being about an 1.5” to long because the T18 is bigger. When I get rid of the unnecessary parking brake parts for a plain joke I’m hopeful the shaft will fit perfectly.

I think you are only going to gain the wall thickness of the parking brake drum.

You'd have to get a wagon output to get the1" shorter tc

This afternoon We got the fuse box reinstalled. I spent another couple hours putting on zip ties and getting the headlight wires back thru the firewall.

I don’t think I explained it well. Here is how I deleted the parking brake and gained an inch+ for the driveshaft. Basically it’s front yoke on the rear.

That speedometer cable was a breeze to connect without all the brake parts in the way.

Since we had to move the fuse box to the right(center) about a foot I had to splice the wires about a foot longer as well. Looking at the headlight harness I think I will have to do it again.

A little wing of a skid plate is only about 5” square.

A little progress this week. Going forward with the TC mount parking brake delete. Got the rear brakes all serviced and added self adjusters and parking brake parts. The PO put the 11” brakes together with a mix of 10” and 11” brakes parts and no self adjusters or parking brake.

Still can’t get the cable into the backing plate correctly.

Check out the bracket I made to hold the front end of the cables.

I have no idea if this will work well but it looks good from here.

Hey Scott are you going to make your July rubicon run? Do you need me to come out to Florida to help you?

You should definitely come to FL to help. I've had the Jeep on jack stands for far to long. Been in CO for almost a week now and nothing is getting done. Next week I'll be hot on it.

It looks like the front cable is not centered in the balance beam thing. Seems like it would apply the brakes harder on one side or another.
