Just Wondering What Electric Fuel Pump Your Running ?

I'm thinking about running a electric fuel pump on one of my Dauntless motors. Has anyone (I'm sure there is) changed over to an electric fuel pump and if so, which did buy and is it working well for you ?? Thanks in advance.

I have run electrics in my L-134 and F 134 motors before, with success, but never a 225 or 231.

 

I have both the mechanical and an electric working together on my '66 Dauntless. It came that way. I tried to find a brand name but couldn't , sorry. It has an extra inline gas filter screwed to the low pressure pump. I like how it makes startimg the jeep easier when sittimg for a few weeks at a time.

 

Holley Red with a pressure regulator set at 2.5lbs for the Weber DGV on my 134L Pump is mounted on the backside of the riser with the inlet and outlet at the same level as the line coming out of the under seat tank.

 

I've had great results with the little cheap chatterbox pumps. I've had the same one on my 3b for around 20 years.

 

I used an Edelbrock which was expensive ($50) because it was in stock and I needed it today. But I've used the $12 pumps with no issues. The Edelbrock is quieter but not by much. You can hear it when you turn the key on before you hit the starter.

 

I did the same thing on my CJ3b once. The mechanical was not pulling up the fuel, so I installed the electric in line to the fuel pump. I would flick on the electric, start the motor and then shut off the electric as the mechanical pump worked fine after that. Got so use to that procedure, I found no reason to buy a new mechanical pump.

 

Like the idea of a electric fuel pump. I run one on a 304.
Problems like vapor locking, it seems to take car of.
Running a electric in conjuction with a mechanical pump, makes good sense.

 

Best fuel pump I ever had. Was on the 67 Commando when I bought it. Can't hear it run and always delivers fuel without flooding the carb. No one has been able to figure out what it is from. If anyone knows, please chime in!

 

Wow, sure looks that way. I always wondered if it was off a scooter or moped. I see some of the search pictures are from aviation parts places. Oh boy, an airplane pump, that HAS to be dependable!

That's an interesting pump. Do you run a fuel pressure regulator with it ?

No, there is no regulator. As a matter of fact, I just used this pump to fill a 1.5 gallon gas can yesterday. Have a full tank in the 67 Commando and I needed some petrol for my 68 Commando so I disconnected the line to the carb, added a hunk of line and turned the key on to fill the can. It took the pump about 4 minutes to deliver 1.5 gallons. Definitely no worries about flooding over the carburetor, yet plenty of fuel to run at 70 MPH on the freeway, at least for the Dauntless that is. Don't know about a V-8 with a 4 barrel though!
