Starting to look like something, now I have to figure out how to get the scale off the sheet metal. Sanding has no effect...ugh

If that's hot rolled you might have a hard time getting paint to stick.
    Sandblasting?

Best thing I’ve found is 120 grit blue Klingspor paper on an orbital.

Laying a dished grinding wheel flat is the quickest, but removing the grinder marks afterwards is a bit counterproductive.

Sounds like muriatic acid or vinegar according to google

    Bowbender I'm workin' on it!

A friend used vinegar saturated paper towels laid on the steel to remove the scale from a trailer frame he built. He said it worked.

We used to do that to remove the silver from the backs of mirrors.

So to get the mill scale off I sprayed the panel with white vinegar, laid some paper towels on it and sprayed again then covered with plastic and let it sit for 24 hrs re wetting 2 times. Then I hit it with scotchbrite and rinsed with soapy water. Pleased with the results, the other sides are soaking

So I'm pretty pleased on how the bed came out, I have to cut the pocket holes in the top rails then it's off to the body shop.........which is pretty much where it sits
