As a newbie to the cj world, I'd like to hear opinions on replacement body parts manufacturers...starting with a windshield frame...Crown vs Omix vs who do you like??

90 percent of the aftermarket parts are made by the the same place sometimes the quality just isn’t there look for a factory window frame.

NOS or good used OEM is best if you can find it, but if you do go reproduction, I have found Crown parts to be better quality than Omix Ada.

    Omix Quality is "OK"
    Crown Quality is "decent enough"
Many of their parts are the same, and probably made in the same factory.

I'd agree that OEM is always better if you can find it.

Ditto on Classic for patch panels. I used many. TOO many. But it’s done now.

And I used a Crown WS frame. I thin I needed to trim a bit of the ID flange to allow glass and gasket to fit. Every one could be a little different and mine was from several years ago. Works fine.

No experience with fenders. Hard to find nice originals around here. Hoods are still not hard to find but often have a crease from windshield frame.

Thanks for the tip on Classic...looks like they will be a big help in taking care of some of the rust problems on the old girl!

Im no body man, and learned to do what I know on my tub. I'll offer a warning that it is tempting to throw panels at the problem. Many localized rust spots can be excised and patched without major "ectomies". Even where I purchased stampings from Classic, I sometimes cut them up and used only what I needed. The "step" piece from front floor to rear floor is an example. My middle was good so I patched in the left and right rather than the entire section. This was a huge aid in keeping my body aligned.
