Who makes the best conventional ball joints for 1974 Jeep cj 5 304 engine, and do they need to be adjustable?

I like Moog. Whatever brand you choose, pay attention to where the Zirk fitting is located. On some brands, the fitting is located on the bottom of the upper ball joint and interferes with the axle and must be removed. This of course means it must be reinstalled every time you want to grease the joint.

Just went did these about 2 months ago. Moog seem to be the best quality but I did get a bad one which lengthened the job considerably. Also replace the axle joints while your at it. I recommend standard, greasable Spicer U-joints. They were the only ones that I could get to fit correctly. Oh and may as well do axle bearings and seals while you got it apart. How are those steering linkages and tie rods BTW? Don't you love how things just snowball? :D

Don’t forget the spindle bearing while the spindle is off.
