Hi All, I have a beautiful Dodge NP435 sitting in my garage. To the people with experience, what are your thoughts in regards to swapping to a Ford input shaft, and drilling both lower holes in dauntless bell housing? It looks like the two upper mounts are the same as Ford. On the Dodge case, the “lower” mounts are about even (next to) with the input shaft. Is there enough “meat” to tap only the lower holes, or maybe but and bolt them? Thank you!

A GM four-speed is easier and less costly

I agree with them being easier, the SM465s in my area have become rather expensive. I figured that while I already have the 435 (with low miles), it was worth a try. Adapting the back half is similar cost between the two.

I say it’s worth a try. Don’t buy any adapters until you’re sure it’ll work, of course. I have nothing technical to add, other than the NP435 was my favorite truck trans to date. I pulled one out of a school bus and ran it in my scout for years.

FYI for anyone who has a Dodge NP435. I called Novak (friendly and helpful). I’m told that there isn’t enough “meat” in the bellhousing at the lower mounts and would likely break. Also, the location of the clutch fork in relation to the left lower mount would interfere. However, I was told that in this transmission I could mix and match cases and input shafts (with same tooth count). It was suggested I look for a GM case all be it rare, or Ford to put my guts in.

Thank you ITLKSEZ for pointing out Rich M’s post. I contacted the seller. While that is a really good price; by the time I drive out from NH, it wouldn’t be cost effective. Again, thank you for think of me.

You never know around here. Bostonbob traverses fairly regularly and on more than one occasion a local member will grab something and stash it until you get the transportation sorted. If I was local I'd help, my marketplace searches cast pretty wide.
