Air Compressor Options New Saylor-beall

Well folks After close to 35 years, my old Emglo Compressor is ready to be retired. It still runs and works but takes to long to build air and some oil seams to be in the tank now. Not ok for spraying cabinets.
For new ones I had narrowed it down to either a Quincey QT-54 or a Quincy Qt-5 pro. Recently I was talking to my local compressor/ hydraulic shop and they turned me on to Saylor-Beall. I truthfully hadn't heard of them before but a little research show's they have been around since 1915 making compressors in good old USA!! I was looking at a 3-5 week wait when I called about the Quincey compressors. After a call to the Saylor-Beall factory and a visit they found me a local dist. 40 min away and as luck would have it they had one 5HP single phase unit in stock! just got in from unloading it. I'm very impressed.

First it's built like a tank!
It's 100% make in the USA (Quincy is assembled in US but parts are made over seas now.)
Paint and fit and finish are top notch.
Gauge is nice quality.
Comes with a very nice magnetic starter. Bonus
The final surprise was it came with a Electric auto drain! (about a $150 bonus!)

Looking forward to getting it all hooked up and running!
Just throwing it out there, if your looking at a Quincy, go ahead and check Saylor-Beall out as well. They are both good, but Saylor-Be's take the top spot I would say for Quality etc. I'm guessing it will be going long afer I'm gone as well.

 

Very nice. And good timing. I'll be looking for one soon myself. I'll have to look at these. Do keep us updated with your thoughts on it as you hook it up and put it into service.

 

I had not heard of them either. But it looks like a quality built unit. Keep us posted on how it works out.
what is the warrantee like on those?

 

Are they comparable on price versus a Quincy?

 

It ended up about $200 more, but came with a auto drain etc. so yes very comparable price wise. I also didn't like that in reviews on two diff. sites recently people seam to be having issues with Quincy and a bit of quality control. There units came with loose bolts, fittings leaked etc. Still great machines, just maybe slipping as far as check list before they are shipped?

 

Update, Runs great, Love it, makes me realize how long mine took to build air!

 

Is it enough to keep up with a sand blaster? My current ones will not so constantly have to stop for it to build up.

 

I have a 3cyl -2stage eaton compressor with a 120 gallon storage tank. It produces about 32 cu, ft. per minuite at 125 psi. It will keep up with my sand blast cabinet but it has to run almost constantly to do so.

 

I haven't hooked up my blasting cabinet yet, but based on how it works compared to my old one, I would say yes.

 

Damn I wish I had seen this last week. My Quincy QT-54 is being delivered tomorrow. Wish me luck.

 

Had the Quincy (QT-5?) 5 HP 80 gal tank for 20 + years. 23 +- CFM at 40 psi.

Works great. Need to get an automatic drain so I won't have to go outside to open the valve to drain the water out.

Change the oil and air filter and it just keeps on going.

Would not worry about a Quincy or a Saylor Beall. If it blows up tomorrow, it doesn't owe me a dime.

Bought my Quincy QTV 54 in 13 I think. Other than change the oil, air filter I've done nothing to it. It has helped me build 3 Jeeps. I'm happy with it.

 

Did my first cabinet spray job with my new compressor, worked great, cycled way less and no issues at all. Love the auto drain.
