Alright got my CJ mostly painted at this point but i did notice a few dark spots where the paint is a little thin. I didnt notice this till well after the 48 hour dry time. Can I throw another coat or two on this paint or do i need to do some sanding first to help adhesion? This is my first go round with this much body work.

I don’t think there’s a paint out there that cannot be too coated if it’s within 72 hours .

This is rattle can stuff and the can simply states within an hour or after 48 hours you can recoat.

Very much depends on what type of paint you used.

Oil based tractor enamel. Specifically Rustoleum Kubota Orange.

You got time, sand it down with some 800 or 1000 wet/dry paper, then paint again. Depending on were your problem is, you might be able just paint small areas.

Get the paint done the way you want it. Now is the time before you go any farther. In the future you will notice spots and wish you had fixed them.

With that paint the best jobs come out with a color sand in between coats. There are lots of threads out there about guys painting their vehicles with rustoleum paint/foam roller. They roll on paint, dry, color sand, roll on paint, dry, color sand, roll on paint, dry, color sand, polish.

A scotch brite pad will scuff the finish fine and won’t clog as bad.

The way i want it is simple ha. this will be a work and play Jeep so ita going to get tree pin striping and whatnot. Im not worried about a pretty job just want it to adhere.

I went ahead and took 1000 grit to it and wet sanded what i shot on there. Ill spray a fee more coats this weekend when it gets over 60.

1000 is a little fine for a spray bomb but will work. a red scotch pad is more like 500
