Any Recommendations For Aftermarket Seat Belts?

In need of some, would like to go with 3 point retractable, but there are so many folks selling them, wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations on where to purchase.

MickeyKelley is right. I purchased this set with the 18” cable buckle. With my customs seats and custom roll cage, this worked great.

I used Qudratec for my 76 when I ordered new lap belts. Pricing was reasonable and I got them in Orange both front and rear sets. I was going to use seatbelts plus for my XJ. 25 year old UV exposed seat belts don't inspire the most confidence lol.

My question with these old jeeps is how do folks really secure their belts to the floor? I know there are connections there, but a bolt through a fairly thin metal floor wont hold up in an accident. I am sure they will just pull through. Has anyone made bracket that bolt to the frame underneath to connect with the belts? or other more secure options they could post some pics?

factory uses a nut welded to plate and spot welded to tub . 3 needed
one on each fender well (forward) one in between seats on rear floor

 

I never felt like being strapped to the frame, in an event where the body parted company with it.

 

The universal belts come with a backing plate to keep it from pulling thru. Basically 3" dia 11 or 12 ga with the 1/2 center hole.
If your seat is bolted to the body you bolt the belts to the body. You don't want your belts to be in tension as the vehicle separates with your body in the way.

 

I can see both ways having an advantage and dis. I was wondering that with the roll cage as well. Since it seems they are just bolted to the body, that really doesn't give it much protection. But then again, if the body separates from the frame and brings the roll cage and belts (person) with it, i guess that's good.

 

Here are a few pics. Keep in mind that I built a custom roll cage and your application will likely be different.

I welded a mounting tab here, just behind the seats for the reel.



I made a threaded tube that is welded on both sides of the cage. This mounts the shoulder part of the belt.


In this picture, you can see the passenger side buckle. The buckle simply bolts to the floor with a thick plate underneath to add strength to the mounting location. The 18" cable buckle allowed me to mount the buckle on the floor and reach up in between my seat and center console and still have a good spot to clip in to.


Here you can see where the shoulder and reel mounts are located in relationship to the seat.
