Buick Manifold Interchange

If I was to convert my 70 CJ5 over to manual saginaw steering it looks like I'd have to replace the DS exhaust manifold with a later model one. What years and body style of buick would I have to find?

 

I am using the flat one from, (I think), a 1977 Buick lesabre. I had to grind the manifold slightly to clear the steering shaft.

 

Simplest (maybe not the best) solution is fenderwell headers.

 

A rear dump exhaust manifold is what is used. I got my steering to work with the front dump exhaust.

I took a front dump one and cut it to re-angle it and it worked perfect.

 

X2, but it's very tight.

 

Had to flatten the exhaust pipe some. The exhaust shop that redid my exhaust system for the rear tank saw no problem with what I did.

Bashing headers/exhaust pipes for clearance causes almost zero performance loss. Engine Masters did a dyno test where they just took a sledgehammer to a pair of headers, and the "performance loss" was almost statistically insignificant, and this wasn't on a low-compression stock little street engine. Unless you're bashing it absolutely flat and creating a serious restriction, bash away as necessary.
