After years of working on my M38A1's, I finally bought two running Jeeps.
I've been trying to recreate my dad's M38A1 he had in Vietnam.A friend I knew from the military shows restored the Jeeps. He restored the Army M38A1 and then found the USMC M38A1 and restored it. I told him if he ever decided to sell one to let me know. He said he would sell the first one but had to do some work on it. About a year later he said he'd sell me my choice. He made me a deal on both and just got them home.

Man, is it nice to have running, driving Jeeps!

    Jeeps being delivered.

Just wish dad was alive to ride in these.

Those look really nice! That '64 likely has PowrLoks front and rear. Congratulations
I miss the dogwoods and azaleas blooming this time of the year.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm working on making more room in the garage for them.
It does have the powrLoks front and rear.

This is gonna be fun driving these.

Now if we can get back to normal and get together, I have a Jeep to drive.

Got to make some more room in the garage.

Got to put the 1st Hospital decals on the fenders and the make the spare tire sign.

There is no cure for Jeep Acquisition Syndrome, only treatment is more Jeeps. It is also highly contagious and simply posting those pictures can cause it to spread. Now I want a M38A1 to go along with my four other Jeeps.

Like was said the Marine Jeep may have PowrLocs. Some had them front and rear, some just in the rear. Before the M151 Mutt went into service the Marines got their Jeeps from the same contract as the Army, and Marine specific modifications, such as reinforced and welded on bumpers, lift shackles, and PowrLocs were done by the motor pool.

When the M151 came along the Marines were not very impressed and decided to stay with the M38A1, so the later contract for them was Marine specific and most of those came with PowrLocs.

My Dad said he wrote multiple letters trying to keep the M38A1, but it got replaced with the M151. Never liked it as much.
Haven't tested it yet, but I was told it has front and rear PowLoks. Have the USMC rear bumper kit for the M38A1 I was building.

The one he had stayed in Vietnam probably became a taxi.

    Thanks for the replies.
