Like the big dummy i am i didnt think to take any pictures, but this place is heaven.
I dug through the boxes of license plates and came up empty handed, then looked up on the wall and

    SHAZAM...

    There it was...

These white on green plates were used from 1958 to 1962 and didnt have the stamped year but used the now common stick on tab. My Jeep is a 1959....there is a tab under the 59 tab...got to be 58, but the 59 on top is what makes me happy!!! 62 years ago something happened and ive now got a collector plate on the Jeep with a 1959 tab :D

In NH they will allow you to register an antique car using original vintage plates. You could look into that.

I register my '66 Tux with a vintage plate and don't need to pay registration again...

I am just registering my '89 Volvo with Centennial plate too...

    I like mine :sneak:

Sometimes I feel bad that someone running a 4 banger can't use the sequence: 22 134
At least mine was built with one.

The price of Washington State license plates has sky rocketed. '66 through '69 especially, muscle cars. It's hard to put a $100 plate on an old Jeep. Two guys here on Bainbridge got the law in Washington passed...

Lucky find on the 58 Washington plate. Ive been looking for a plate for my 52. Due to the Korean war they didn't produce plates in 52 out here so I need to find a 51 with the 52 metal tag on it. I refuse to pay the $125 i have seen

From what I have read, no 52 metal tags were issued for passenger cars. Apparently a windshield tag/sticker was used.

Here in Michigan they have a historic vehicle registration where you can use an original year plate. However, that registration is very restrictive about what you can do with the vehicle. Fortunately a standard registration for a vehicle that old is less than $40 per year. If I can find a good 67 plate for a reasonable price I'll buy it and put it on the front bumper.

Did they get rid of the clause that said "or for mechanical testing" ?

Pretty much covered every drive when I had the '66 with historic plates.

one of the stipulations for use of a vintage plate in Washington is "for the pleasure of others"...pretty much takes care of it

Maybe about the time of the "3M Law." We used to get a new plate each year until they went reflective.
