I was having some issues finding a seat for the scout. when I got it, it had a seat from a mid 80s Ford Van. it was the rear bench so it didnt sit right. it was to tall, and you could barely squeeze in it.

found this one at the local pick and pull from a late 70s Mazda pickup. the color was off and it was a little dirty even after a good washing and vacuuming. on the plus side, its adjustable and the seat back folds forward unlike the one that came with it. installing it turned out fairly painless. the only real mods was welding a short piece of angle iron to the seat and drilling new holes in the scout. tried to find a seat cover online but nothing looked good and prices were out of control.

bought 2 Mexican blankets online for $40 and with some time and a bunch of zip ties it turned out pretty good.

My wife found a bench seats out of an 80s Chevy, Dodge, GM (?) for her '72 IH. Man the difference compared to old rock solid original seats is amazing. It shocked me what a good seat does.
We used a seat cover kit that looks like a mexican blanket, I think using actual blankets is a better choice, seat cover comes off from time to time.

i heard about using 80s full size trucks but the 80 is a pretty small truck. between the doors its only ~55" wide. all the seats i measured where into the 59" or so width. the small pick ups are around ~52" so they seem to fit better.

Yeah I think this seat was pretty big, it barely fit, and that's a full sized IH. Mini truckish seats sounds better on an 80.

Might hop onto binderplanet.net and hit their forum for parts.

Middle bench seat out of an early Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager/Chrysler whateverthehecktheycalled it tends to be real popular with the hotrod crowd, for a narrow bench.
