Major progress over the past couple of days.

One hurtle I had to overcome was the end of the steering column was pretty rotted. I cut the end off the column that was on the frame. You can see the two halves of the old rotted end here.

After a little grinding, I was able to slide it back on the splines.

Then I welded it in place. It was originally peened over.

And now it runs and yard drives! I'll get better pics tomorrow. Still have the rear bumper to put on and put a seat in it. The milk crate just isn't working. I really can't wait to get a new radiator support so the grille will actually stay in place. I also have to swap the alternator so I can put an electric fan on to keep it cool. Yesterday, I picked up some new wheels and tires that actually hold air.

If I am following this correctly in 11 days you pieced together a running vehicle from a pile of parts. Congrats and good work but holy crap. I accomplished zero, nada, nothing useful in the last eleven days. Job, kid, wife, house, life, etc. At your pace I would have restored by Blazer, built my Jeep from parts, and built a new house years ago. All just dreams today. Bravo.

I’ve seen prettier at 0300 at the beer hall but I’d rather wake up with that truck.

The GVW can be, 5700, 6100, 7200, or 7600lbs depending on rear springs, tire size or if it has the HD front axle.

My guess is, its just a 5700lb GVW truck.

Did some ghetto fab work today. Made some hooks up to hang the electric fan off the radiator and put some nylon mounts through the fins to hold it all in place.

And I got the correct the correct air cleaner and it now charges!
