Was talking to forum member a few days ago. He had an F-head rebuilt by "Professional Race Car Mechanics" and found a whole laundry list of things done wrong such as goops of RTV inside the oil screen and other things I consider the mark of an amateur, but the thing that struck me as really bad was he had welded the the flywheel bolts to to the crankshaft flange and it was an expensive NOS crankshaft.

This is why it is always important to insure your work is correct.

I have an early set of spring loaded Warns on my CJ. Apparently the first gen of these used 4 posts inside the clutch springs to keep them aligned. The posts moved through holes drilled in the housing when the dial is rotated.

Went wheeling (alone of course),got to the bottom of a hill and found one of my hubs wouldn't engage. The issue is the cap/clutch can be installed either with the posts over the holes or 45 degrees off. If the posts aren't over the holes, the posts jam and the spring collapses without the clutch engaging.

Managed to get out using the right foot flogger....................

Been there, done that. As a teen I was trying to do a burnout in my CJ2 and snapped an axle shaft. No big deal turn on the hubs and drive home in front wheel drive. Oops hub mis-assembled. I had to walk to my grandma's house and call my mom (way pre cellphone era) to bring a set of allen wrenches so I could put the hub together right and drive home.
