I did a bit of searching but my number seems higher than any Early CJ.

is there an Early CJ VIN thread that we can “sticky” at top of Forum?

Anyone know the date for this one?

screwed on data plate - not riveted...but its also Kaiser Jeep so the plate is not from the AMC years.

All my early Jeeps the VIN tag had screws. I'm guessing 65 based upon what I have been around. I believe the 200xxx was 65-66. Someone will post a link shortly more definitive. Post a couple shots of the Jeep.

of course most all of these have been modified over the years. I read the V6 Jeeps have an “A” in the VIN. This has a Dauntless but no A.
    Here’s a few pictures..

It has a V6 emblem- looks factory.

Is that a mount for the top bow on the rear corner? That would make it mid 60's or before IIRC. The hood is older too but those are easily changed.

My '66 is 206K, screwed on, with an A.

So you're # 99332 as the first one off the line was (still is?) 100001. As I'm too lazy to look at the VIN threads mentioned I'm guessing '61-'64.

Funny thing - I went out and checked the VIN on my ‘66V6. The new Jeep VIN is exactly 1,000 numbers before my Tan Jeep!! Neither have an”A” but both are no doubt factory V6s.

Any further confirmation is still welcome.

for what it’s worth, (which is probably next to nothing) here is a pic from my parts book that attempts to decode the vin number. Note the comment about discontinuing the “A” designator with the inception of the 7 digit serial number prefix

A 1966 VIN tag should have the “A” if it came originally with the Dauntless.

Early ‘66 model year (Sept ‘65-Dec ‘65, maybe longer) have snorkel plate on the hood and the top bow pockets on the rear corners. Both those features disappeared (at different times) later in the ‘66 model year.
